The Director, Centre of the Weird Side, is watching with approval a series of 10 documentaries being aired on the BBC.
The one from India, 'In search of Gandhi' was excessively left leaning in its lens. It started with the eviction of slum dwellers in Ahmadabad and then goes to poke at the coals of what is left of the Gothra riots.
It shows Gujarat lies heavily divided along caste, poverty and religious lines- the three things the Fakir in his Underwear railed against most.
The Directest of the all Directors, enjoyed the fresh perspective it put on caste divisions within villages -a point hardly covered or not made very well in the indian media. however, its was too prakash karat in its anti-development skewer for it to fly in our Learned Directors opinion.
The one, his Handsomness the Director, was watching out for was 'Bloody Cartoons' made by a Danish filmaker/journalist Karsten Kjaer.
The fucking thing that stumped our Dear Director was the revelation (admitted by one of Sunni Islams most prominent leaders) was that the Koran does not ban depictions of the Prophet. It is Sunni philosophy which bans imagery (which includes Jesus and Moses). This was a stunning fact to find out. The moment of the documentary was when Karsten visits a sort of religious supermall in Tehran and buys the last Prophet Mohammed poster (A Disney hero like depiction which ever since the Danish cartoons will not be printed as the Sunni leaders have agreed not to sell them as solidarity gesture with the Sunnis). He should sell it on eBay.
Karsten Kjaer is dirty type of overweight white guy - you can practically smell his mustiness from the TV as he thrusts himself upon unsuspecting muslim leaders in a manner not dissimilar to Michael Moore.
The assumptions of the documentary maker are very clear as in the Gandhi documentary. The muslims overreacted without even looking at the cartoons. One thought that the bomb prophet looked like a Sadarji when finally he was showed a cartoon. It is for this reason that the favourite book of our Superduper Director is Satanic Verses (without having read it).
The Director also waved feebly in approval when his views that fatwas are politically motivated were proven. There is an international movement by the Islamic leaders to have a global law on blasphemy. Our proud Director passed wind loudly and noxiously when asked what he thought about this.
the best documentary so far was 'please vote for me' - nastily and dirty election fought by Chinese school children for the post of class monitor.
In conclusion, it must be said that our Maginificent Director is quite the documentary slut. He mumbled eloquently that one must watch but also be aware of the personal biases of the documentary maker. And one must also eat less beans to prevent gas.
