kudos to the indian media

ok pluto makes an excellent point in his comment on my stupid rant..

for starters.. i wrote that when i was extremely depressed..

But the question remains.. there is no dount vanzara would have acted the way he did without a political backing or at the minimum, sheild... what do we do about the actual culprits.. the elected representatives.. the people with power who perpetuate the systems..

Now that im feeling slightly better.. i think there is hope..

my favourite part about the soharbuddin murder.. is the nephew of prajapati..

this guy .. he goes to visit his uncle, prajapati who is in police custody.. suddenly the police realize that they need to cover their tracks.. what if prajapati said something about the murder to his nephew..

THEY PLANT HEROIN ON HIM and he's randomnly lying in jail writing letters to his family not to come near the jail otherwise they are going to be guests of the state government as well!!

Now again.. this is not an isolating incident.. in this case because the victims were kind enough to have their pictures taken in front of the taj smiling beningly has caught the imagination of the media.

The Olde India has not come to terms with the power of the 4th estate yet.

Whether it is the magistrate in the periera case, the BCCI, the Gujarat or West Bengal government.. they cannot bludgeon law and india in a remote part of india and walk away whistling, hands in pocket as if nothing happened..

There is hungry beast called the indian tv media circus that is watching them.. there is a limit to how much news the local two newspapers could deliver.. now you have over 40 news channels (all languages) bombarding us with everything they can find..including their awful humour and style.. .. having to fill 24 hours of airtime.. they will go to all corners of india for news...and you dont need to be literate to watch tv

I enjoy it when i see democratic insitutions take root and fox the old order..

the supreme court (however opaque) and the media (however crap) are playing a steller role in at least spreading democracy.
