Can the best person ever win in politics?

the good news is sometimes.. YES!!!

Maya Aunty has won in Uttar Pradesh pulling a blinder. It's a victory for indian democracy and a sign that the indian voter is FINALLY beginning to mature.

The victory is immense. It is hard to encapsulate exactly what an achievement it is to be the first party in 14 years to get an outright majority in Uttar Pradesh. A place where politics over the last few years have been known to be bitter and divisive not unlike the Center where people believe that coalition politics is here to stay.

For this reason alone this victory is different from a mere anti-incumbency change of government. For example, the Punjab election makes no difference to your or my life. But this victory is HUGELY different from a lot of elections that have happened in the past few years. It is more monumental than Lalu Prasad Yadav losing in Bihar..

Why?

the victory is a victory for an ideology that draws inspiration from people like Ambedkar and Periyar. and not a narrow one like india for the oppressed but one that says it is time to move foward and reconcile differences.

Mayawati took a huge gamble by opening the party to the upper castes but it makes my heart glad.. GLAD .. i tell you that the people bought it..

my favourite part is that arjun singh has got a kick in his old nuts. make no mistake the whole reservation drama was staged with an eye on the UP elections.. despite rahul baba's best attempts the congress has lost seats in UP. the congress is saving face by saying that.. if not for rahul baba they would have been wiped out .. er.. yes.. a nice thing to say for the party which ruled the state with impunity at one time.. but at the end of the day.. no one cares two hoots about reservation in UP..and that says a lot.. this officially means that the Tams are now India's biggest Casteists..

other than that.. the BIGGEST LOSERS.. muhahahaha.. the BJP... has been told again by the people that other than Gujarat no one cares about Hindutva anymore. the ram temple could be built in timbucktoo for all people care.. but i think the BJP, RSS and VHP have just too much fun bullying people in the name of religion to give that up...

finally.. it also brings me great joy to hear Mulayam Singh bitch that he lost because of the Election Commission..

The Election Commission is a vigilante. If the Supreme Court is like Superman.. the EC is India's Batman. They have said.. fuck it.. we are going to deliver free and fair elections at any cost. Even if that means assuming powers that the Constitution in its worst nightmare couldn't have thought of.

Of course you lost because of the EC, poor baby. Because like in the past, like most government in power you couldnt rig the election. Awww ..so sad. Having problems coming to terms with democracy taking roots?? tch tch.. my heart bleeds for you mulayam. hope you made enough money for your next 100 generations to live like billionaires.. maybe they can join the Bill and Melinda Foundation and work against AIDS.

it's not like maya aunty is not corrupt or something.

but she has a well deserved mandate. i hope she doesnt let us down.
